Mrs. Corris & Mrs. Patrizi's 4 yr PM

Warm Winter Greetings AM Friends!

We returned from winter break and read the Gingerbread Man, Boy, Baby and Girl during a Gingerbread literature study. We enjoyed reading and comparing these delicious tales. The remainder of the month we learned  about what people and animals do in the winter season. We also discussed winter weather. We learned about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why we celebrate his birthday. Patterns were all the rage this past month in Room 4.

Love and friendship will be in the air during the upcoming month of February as we celebrate Valentine's Day.  We will celebrate with a class “fun day” and distribution of Valentine's Day cards.  A list of classmate's names will be sent home.  Classmates are encouraged to address and sign their cards where possible.

We will celebrate President's Day by learning about Presidents; Washington and Lincoln. A money lesson will also be included.

February is also the month we learn about dental health and the groundhog's prediction.

Learning Without Tears (LWT)

This month we will work on curved letters: S, J, D, P & B

We will practice writing our names and listening to letter sounds using the Hooked on Phonics CD.

Count on Math:  One to one correspondence / Zero

One to one correspondence is matching or pairing items in a one-to-one relationship.  This skill helps children learn to touch each item as it's counted.
