Happy Fall!

We are off to a great school year!
​
During September, we've all had a chance to get to know each other and make new friends. We are all different and we are all the same.
We learned how to make LWT Mat Man who uses the lines and curves we will need to create the uppercase letters of the alphabet. He also reminds us of the parts that are needed to draw a person.
We have settled into our classroom routine nicely. Everyone is using our classroom management system so free play is fair and fun.
We've started sharpening our fine motor skills by working in our LearningWithout Tears workbooks.
Our math/science center was a popular spot this month as we observed objects in a variety of fun ways. We also welcomed Fall and learned about the four seasons.

Learning Without Tears (LWT)
Straight line letters: L, F, E, and H
We will practice writing our names and listening to letter sounds using the Hooked on Phonics CD.

Spatial Relationships
Now that we have learned the vocabulary that helps describe attributes, we can move on to understanding spatial relationship such as direction and position. We will use this vocabulary and the corresponding conceptual awareness later when we classify and order materials.

Please note some helpful reminders…

Please label ALL your child's belongings.

Please be sure to choose a STANDARD SIZE BACKPACK for your child. It will need to accommodate a set of seasonably appropriate emergency clothing, as well as important papers and projects that will be sent home.

Your child will bring in one labeled snack daily . When choosing a snack please remember, The Schoolhouse is a peanut and tree nut free school. Students are asked to place their labeled snacks in their cubbies upon arrival. We will be providing the napkins and water.

Birthdays are celebrated as close to the child’s birthday as possible. Summer birthdays will be celebrated as 1/2 birthdays. Parents may send in a store bought, pre-packaged, peanut and tree nut free snack for each child in the class. This class currently has 15 friends. Birthdays are posted each month on the class website.
